How Sure Are You...That You Will Make Heaven?

The lecturer said, "I don't believe in God. I also do not believe in heaven and hell fire. I believe that something bigger than us exist...but that thing, I don't know."

In a class of 100 students set in the backdrop of this modern world, the students were really amazed. Looking at their teacher, they wondered, "is he okay?"

However, one bold student stood up. He looked prim, proper but certainly not religious. More scientist-endowed. "So, you do not believe in hell fire? You do not believe in the existence of the devil?"

The lecturer did not seem put off. He rather smiled like one who had been waiting his whole life for this question. "There is the existence of the devil, and indeed hell fire exists." He looked pointedly at the front row students, "we are the devils and this is currently hell fire."

.....✍🏾.....

Hi guys, and welcome to today's post on Life with Uchechi. Today's focus won't be all easy and shine because there is a delicate to-be-discussed topic at hand.

Is there really a heaven and a hell? Or are we already in it? Does Satan really exist or are human beings too lazy and conniving to come out and take responsibility for their inhumane actions?

Mind you, I am a Christian but like and unlike the Catholic Church, this debate is one too pinching to ignore. It's a mystery, yes, but the answer is important to know.

Yesterday, while I was at work, an elderly colleague of mine, presumably in his early fifties, late forties, sparked a controversy. He was resolute in the fact that nobody he knows including himself will make heaven for when he looks at human beings around him, we are unworthy of this heaven we always talk about. Yes, he believes heaven exists but to see himself or anyone he knows enter it, that he disputes. And people were surprised.

What sort of human being, a Christian and Catholic for that matter does not claim heaven for himself?

We were also quite amazed at his notion of hell. See, he knows there is a hell fire waiting for wrong offenders on the Judgment Day, but he believes that the hell fire is already in the room with us. That we are already in our own individual hells waiting for a saviour and surviving without one.

I pondered on this. All the while he talked, people tried to oppose him. Some went as far as implying his line of thought is not normal cause who thinks that way. Who deems themselves dirty and unworthy of heaven?!

I was quiet through it all. Trying to understand. Trying to break down for myself, the words I will use to describe this rarity. A person, a Christian, boldly saying he won't make heaven for he is not clean enough. However, he strives to make heaven. He strives to obey. But he is not resolute in the modern notion of saying, "I will make heaven." automatically means you will make heaven.

Now, I do not disagree with him, yet I do not totally agree with him. Of course, the mouth has power and the words we speak can change and direct the course of our lives. So, I will make heaven. I'll keep on saying it till it is stamped in my brain.

But, let's think yeah. Is saying it wholly and solely, enough? By saying it, are we then completely assured we will make it? Many Christians have gone against the teachings of their faith, relying only on believing the faith without practicing the alongs that come with Christianity.

It is not enough to say it, we must practice the teachings and imbibe the good works. But, in a world of 7 billion people, with the Abrahamic religions taking front stage in population and global recognition, the world is still suffering from the Christians who have adamantly said they will make heaven.

We have believed, and spoke into existence to the extent that we turn Christianity and the Judgment Day to a manifestation...a speak to the universe and it grants you. Yet, let's be brutally honest here. Sins do make noise. The little sins we commit in the dark will certainly form a point on whether you merit heaven or you do not.

Look around you, a person commits a heinous crime, gets caught, and uses the bible to shield theirselves from punishment. Then, they are released to go out into the world (since they faced no repercussions) and sin some more.

It is no longer a belief, this heaven and hell dynamic. It is now a mere phrase we stupidly throw around to seem like believers. We want the words to manifest when the actions that backup the final decision don't correlate or align one bit.

Don't get me wrong. Manifestation, I have come to believe, is good, effective even. But one does not manifest a house, and goes to sleep away the working time. One works out their manifestation. One believes in their faith, works out their fate. To each his own reward for the good and bad works done.

Then, the hell on earth. To many a blasphemy, to critical thinkers a truth. Notice I did not put fire in the line starting this paragraph. Because there is a difference between hell on earth and hell fire. The latter's punishment is worse and eternal. It is decaying and rotting for ever more. A fire burning you steadily while you anguish without an ending in sight. But hell on earth must still be acknowledged for it exists. Maybe not to you nor me, but to others, so many others we don't know and have never seen.

There are people right now that have thought death a solution not an ending. In fact, the very nature of death being an ending is the reason it works well as a solution. There are people that went through with it but survived with scars and pain worse than before. We don't know them but they exist

Now, try telling them they are not already in hell, to some of them a hell of their own making, to the others a hell they were not given a choice but thrown in. We cannot deny this truth. The hell on earth is actually a certifiable fact.

I personally have no hell, may be because I pray everyday not to be thrown into one, but I am fighting a mental war of my own making. The things watched when little now attack me as I have grown. I fight everyday and feel pathetic, dirty, when I pray. But I've learned to not stop. To persist. To cry in the secret place for in it lies only you and God, not man. God, the maker of the universe. The maker of you and I. The reader of minds. The comforter of those afflicted. The punisher of sin. The master of karma. Yes, this God who made the heaven and the earth.

Therefore, let's put it in a nutshell. Heaven, hell fire, judgment, hell on earth, all these exist.

But to each character you possess, merits heaven, demerits hell. So, how sure are you...that you will make heaven? In fact how sure are you...in what you claim to know?

Thanks for reading.

But till next time,
Bye and hope you come back to see...more of me.

Love,
Uchechi.
